RCCS Honors and Celebrates National Adoption Month
October 31, 2024
November is National Adoption Month, and Richland County Children Services (RCCS), celebrates the families who have grown through adoption and brings attention to the thousands of children with legal permanency goals of adoption who are at risk of aging out of foster care without permanent family connections.
This year’s theme “Honoring Youth: Strengthening Pathways to Lasting Bonds,” emphasizes the importance of child welfare professionals helping young people build lifelong networks of support and community. The focus is on providing a sense of belonging and relational permanency for youth in foster care, promoting family, community, and cultural connections.
This year’s theme to honor youth can help the thousands of children and teens across the country who are waiting to be adopted. More than 3,000 youths in Ohio are awaiting to be adopted.
So far this year, RCCS has had 24 children find a forever home through adoption. There are still 18 children in our care waiting for a permanent home and 124 in the foster care system.
Richland County Children Services continues to create new families and provide the resources and support they need to thrive and grow.
We need more heroes to help make a difference in a child's life! If you are ready to provide a child with a forever home, please contact RCCS today about our foster/adoptive parent program.
