Clear Fork High School Boys soccer team volunteered at The New Store
An area high school boys soccer team is proving what it means to be Stronger Together!
Members of the Clear Fork Colts high school boys soccer team, skipped their practice this week to lend a helping hand to The New Store. The team volunteered Tuesday, Sept. 29 helping children select items and sorted clothing for the store.
The New Store is the only nonprofit organization in Richland County providing new clothes to school children who qualify.
All of the children The New Store serves are in kindergarten through eighth grade, and have been referred by their school principal, Harmony House, Friendly House, or Domestic Violence Shelter staff based on financial need. The New Store schedules appointments with the parents or guardians for “Dressing Days.” This special day provides an opportunity for children to be paired up with a volunteer from the community who helps them pick out clothes and mentors them as they go throughout the store.
The goal of The New Store is to provide new clothes to kids so they can feel confident in their appearance, fit in with their peers, and be freed of some distractions to learning. The New Store hopes that the experience provides a wonderful memory and makes each child feel cared for and special.
