Prospective foster parents learn about Richland County Children Services
Almost 20 local residents attended an informal open house on Tuesday evening at Richland County Children Services to learn more about the agency's foster parent program.
Agency staff members and current foster parents met with the visitors in the agency's Futty Learning Center in a session that lasted about an hour and featured an extensive question-and-answer session.
"We need more foster parents and we were thrilled with the turn-out we had Tuesday evening," said Carl Hunnell, the agency's supervisor of public information and community outreach. "They did their homework and came in with some great questions."
Hunnell said several of those in attendance signed up to begin the next foster parent training session that begins in October.
