Richland County Children Services Board issues statement regarding former executive director
June 12, 2012
"Randy Parker has served as the Executive Director of Richland County Children Services for 10 years, with many accomplishments that have strengthened the agency and benefitted its constituency during his tenure. Nevertheless, Mr. Parker and RCCS acknowledge that change in leadership is inevitable, and that after a successful decade together it is time for their affiliation to come to a conclusion.
"To that end, the Richland County Children Services Board tonight (6/11/2012) approved a resolution authorizing the agency to enter into a settlement agreement with Mr. Parker that provides for his separation from the agency and resolves all matters between RCCS and Mr. Parker arising from the separation.
"Among its other terms, and taking into account Mr. Parker's long service to the agency and the fact he is in the first year of a three-year employment contract, the agreement allows Mr. Parker to continue his administrative leave through Aug. 8, 2012, and further provides for a severance payment to Parker in the amount of $42,000.00. In addition, Mr. Parker and RCCS each agreed to release any claims arising from the employment relationship.
"Mr. Parker and RCCS believe this mutually-agreeable settlement will prevent the potential for uncertainty as the agency seeks a new Executive Director, ensuring that the agency can continue to focus on benefitting the children and families it serves and strengthening its relationships in the community.
"The Board is grateful for Mr. Parker's direction, and the fact that the agency will continue with new leadership should not diminish Mr. Parker's valuable contributions over the last decade. The board wishes him every success as he moves forward in his career."
Respectfully,
Board of Trustees, Richland County Children Services Board
