'Wear Blue to Work' day on April 11 sends positive community message
April 9, 2012
Area residents are invited to join Ohioans around the state on Wednesday, April 11, for the first “Wear Blue to Work” day during National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Business owners, manufacturing leaders, school administrators, organizational leaders and others are encouraged to pass the word to their employees and students and ask them to participate in this important statewide event.
“Wear Blue to Work” day will help raise community awareness about child abuse and neglect. It sends a positive message that children are our most precious resource and that everyone in the community must work together to protect them.
"Just seeing people all over Richland County wear blue on this one day will help make everyone more aware they can, and should, actively work to prevent child abuse and neglect," said Nikki Harless, Director of Operations for Richland County Children Services. "We hope people from all walks of life participate because child abuse happens in all segments of our community."
Richland County Children Services will visit participating sites on April 11 to take special photos of participating workers to be used in a photo gallery on the agency Web site at www.richlandcountychildrenservices.org. Locations may also take their own photos and e-mail them to Carl Hunnell, the agency’s communications supervisor at hunnec@odjfs.state.oh.us.
